(Al Qamar) 54 : 24
فَقَالُوا أَبَشَرًا مِنَّا وَاحِدًا نَتَّبِعُهُ إِنَّا إِذًا لَفِي ضَلَالٍ وَسُعُرٍ
Then they asked: "Do we follow a man from among us; indeed, if so, we will be in astray and insanity."
Swalih, who had been deputed to the Thamood people as Messenger, warned about the consequences of their misguided lives by quoting the history of destroyed people passed before. Then the chief of the Thamood people told their followers that if they followed a strayed and insane man, they would also become strayed and insane people.
